GreenApple Respite Services offer a range of programs to carers of individuals with a mental illness, intellectual disability and autism. We offer innovative and extremely popular carer respite programs in a range of settings; in home respite, community respite, school holiday program respite and holiday respite. Your reasons for requiring respite can be varied and we can help you to determine which options best meet your needs.
The aim of our respite program is to allow the carers of people with mental illness, autism and intellectual disability to take a break from their usual care responsibilities and spend some time on their own care needs.
We recognise the importance of meeting the needs of both the carer and the care recipient; we follow the guidelines set out in the 2004 Carers recognition Act and by working closely with all parties to develop a customised and flexible program.
Respite is for a fixed period of time and while providing a break for the carer, we engage with the care recipient to increase their ability to participate in activities of their choice, whether they be social, recreational or something else. We aim to develop their self confidence, self esteem and coping skills whilst linking them into services which may be able to support the carer and care recipient in the long term.
We hope you find our website useful and look forward to hearing from you.
